We are centrally located in the heart of South Yarra.

We have years of experience in the fields of Family Law, Wills and Estates, and Dispute Resolution, and we apply our expertise pragmatically to protect and preserve our clients’ relationships, families and wealth.

We aim to resolve matters outside of Court by negotiation or mediation, but where litigation is necessary, we are experienced in running significant trials across all jurisdictions.

James is the founder of Matthies Lawyers. He is an Australian qualified Lawyer in practice since 2005, with a passion for helping individuals and business owners resolve their Family Law matters and preserve their wealth for the future using the tools available to Estate Planners. James helps our clients avoid and resolve conflict through good planning, negotiation and mediation and litigation where required. James is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, and the Law Council of Australia Family Law Section.

Toni O’Sullivan

Family Law and Estate Planning

Toni is passionate about helping individuals resolve their Estate Planning and Family Law matters efficiently and with minimal conflict. Toni graduated from Monash University in 2023 with a double Bachelor Degree in Law (Honours) and Arts, majoring in Psychology, and completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Leo Cussen Centre for Law. Toni was admitted to practice in December 2024 and is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
